Say No to Drugs!

31 Jan

This Red Flag can be both the product and cause of other Red Flags in an individual. Drug and alcohol problems almost always lead to lying, stealing, storytelling, and just all around crazy shit (pardon my language) happening within your relationship.

The “functioning” part of this is the key. You will not always be aware of your partner’s addictions right away. They often have had plenty of time and have developed “skill” in keeping everyone they know in the dark about their drug or alcohol abuse.

Understand that the signs will be there and it is just a matter of time before you discover this Red Flag but if you can educate yourself on the signs and symptoms and trust your gut instinct you will spare yourself some time and heartache.

Despite their best efforts, this Red Flag will stand and wave in front of your face so don’t be blinded by your mate’s good qualities or get sucked into thinking that you can help them give up their addiction.

You will quickly find that you have bit off more than you can chew and an addiction is a VERY difficult thing to break.

Love yallz…

I enjoy reading these posts. I find that posts are so accurate when trying to read between the lines of another person.

Being with a functioning addict is a difficult situation. You watch the person you grew care about with the hope of “helping” that person. If your occupation isn’t a super hero, don’t try to save someone who doesn’t want to be saved.
