Gotta Pay To Play

29 Jun

The Red Flag Award this week goes to Florence Henderson, aka Carol Brady from the “Brady Bunch”. In her new book, Mrs. Henderson writes of a time when she woke up with “little black things” crawling all over her after a night of romance with John Lindsay, who was Mayor of New York at the time. Nice!

According to Henderson the “married and unattractive” John Lindsay put the moves on her while they both got liquored up at the Beverly Hills Hotel one night. Henderson, who was also married at the time, claims, “I was lonely. I knew it wasn’t the right thing to do. So, what did I do? I did it.” Yes you sure did, only to wake up sharing Lindsay’s itchy mess. Hey, sometimes you gotta pay to play.

Karma? I’m pretty sure she was well aware that when you’re in a relationship, especially marriage, getting hammered alone with another member of the opposite sex is a big Red Flag. Furthermore, if she was so lonely, unhappy and willing to put herself in that situation in the first place maybe it was time to reconsider her relationship.

Following the incident, Lindsay sent her flowers and a note of apology. What a gentleman! Despite the flowers and kind words, Henderson wasn’t pleased with the whole ordeal and the affair ended quickly.

Henderson did gain some knowledge from the one night stand however, “Guess I learned the hard way that crabs do not discriminate but cross over all socioeconomic strata,” Henderson writes. “He must have had quite the active life. What a way to put the kibosh on a relationship.”

Hmmm, just goes to show you that not all people are always as clean and wholesome as they look.
